New GO Station In Hamilton Starts in Time for Pan AM Games

July 6, 2015, Hamilton ON

Ontario’s regional transportation agency, Metrolinx, is opening the new West Harbour GO Station in Hamilton this week in time for the Pan Am Games.

Starting July 9, weekday commuter service will start at the new station, which is located at 353 James St. North. Two trains will depart from Hamilton in the morning and another two will depart from Toronto in the evening on the Lakeshore West line as follows:

  • One eastbound trip departing West Harbour at 6:16 a.m. and arriving at Union at 7:24 a.m.
  • One eastbound trip departing West Harbour at 6:46 a.m. and arriving at Union at 7:57 a.m.
  • One westbound trip departing Union at 4:47 p.m. and arriving at West Harbour at 5:59 p.m.
  • One westbound trip departing Union at 5:23 p.m. and arriving at West Harbour at 6:35 p.m.

In addition, from Saturday July 11 to Sunday July 26, extra trips will be available into and out of West Harbour to serve events at the CIBC Hamilton Pan Am Soccer Stadium.

Funding for the West Harbour GO Station is part of the largest infrastructure investment in Ontario’s history — more than $130 billion over 10 years, which will support more than 110,000 jobs per year on average, with projects such as roads, bridges, transit systems, schools and hospitals.

Ontario’s long-term infrastructure plan will help connect regions, develop new economic opportunities and improve quality of life for Ontarians by supporting critical infrastructure projects in cities, towns, and rural and remote communities all across the province.

Investing in transit is part of the government’s plan to build Ontario up. The four-part plan includes investing in people’s talents and skills, making the largest investment in public infrastructure in Ontario’s history, creating a dynamic, innovative environment where business thrives, and building a secure retirement savings plan.
